A Transparent Seating Element that Blends with Nature

The HEGDE CHAIR is a one-of-a-kind seating element made of glass, allowing for transparency and a connection with the outdoor environment. What sets it apart is the incorporation of a hedge growing underneath, making it a part of the natural surroundings. The idea for this design came about when the designer noticed how traditional furniture made of opaque materials and concrete would spoil the beauty of a lawn and its hedges. To address this, the HEGDE CHAIR was created to provide users with a thrilling experience of "Sitting on the Hedge."

The realization of the HEGDE CHAIR involves cutting and toughening glass pieces to the desired size and shape. These pieces are then carefully adhered together using transparent glue and infra-red curing. Additionally, cement blocks are cast in a mold, and soil is filled inside to allow for the growth of bushes. A drip irrigation system is incorporated to ensure proper watering of the plants.

The technical specifications of the HEGDE CHAIR are 820 x 685 x 840, with the cement blocks measuring 100mm in height. The design not only provides a unique seating experience but also adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any outdoor space.
